Last Call for Coming of Age Submissions!

Hi, girls! Just a quick reminder: New Moon is looking for a short paragraph from girls all over the world describing how their culture celebrates a girl's coming of age. Maybe it's a Sweet Sixteen, a Wiccan ceremony, a Native American tradition, a Quinceanera, a Bat Mitzvah... Or maybe your responsibilities change, for better or worse, within your religious community or family.

We want to hear from YOU about how your culture celebrates a girl’s rite of passage. Tell us: Is there a ceremony or ritual to mark reaching a certain age? What new roles and responsibilities do you take on as you transition to womanhood? Is it a positive experience?

Please send your responses by the end of the day on Friday, July 6! Or, if you have a contact in another part of the world that you think might like to share her own experience, please let us know by then.

Selected responses will be featured in the January/February 2008 issue, "Through the Looking Glass: Coming of Age."

Can't wait to hear from you!
